digital nomads

Work remotely with a purpose

merging social impact and remote work

We are growing our social impact project and our community! Our non-profit organisation, Learning Lions which aims to teach rural youth the digital and design skills for them to thrive professionally, is ready to welcome digital nomads as part of the adventure in our growing community!

We have built the perfect campus in an authentic and remote part of the Turkana region, Kenya, right on the shore of the world’s biggest desert lake. Breathtaking views assured! You will also find comfortable housing and a large coworking space to connect with both the international and local community.

Bonus? The place is crawling with various excursions to disconnect on weekends!

Why should you join startup lions?

our vision

To bring digital nomad communities to Kenya’s undiscovered gems and simultaneously use the financial and personal input to develop the Lions project.

the workspace

Our solar-powered ICT hub designed by Pritzker award-winning Kéré Architecture sits on the hills of a semi-arid desert on the shores of Lake Turkana. Monitors and meeting rooms are aplenty, as is fresh drinking water from springs below ground. The surrounding land is untouched and camels roam free. After work, the beach is just a 15-minute stroll away and the lake stretches as far as the eye can see.

Learning Lions

The main project hosted by the Startup Lions campus is our EdTech program, Learning Lions. It aims to bring creative digital education to the youth in marginalized communities, providing them with international digital opportunities right from their homes. As a digital nomad, you can choose to participate or lead in some classes and crash courses or even host activities to enhance the students’ experiences and education.

Digital Lions

After graduating from the Learning Lions, some of our alumni can choose to integrate the associated creative digital agency, Digital Lions. The agency provides services in graphic design, web development, and animation to international clients. They have worked on 200+ projects with over 100+ clients and are always eager to gain more experience and knowledge! As a digital nomad, you can decide to mentor some of our agents or provide occasional feedback on their work to help them grow professionally.

Digital Fair Trade

Our agency is the first digital agency to be Fair Trade verified by the WFTO! We aim to improve the quality of life and the economic development of our students and alumni, and also the region by abiding by the WFTO principles and promoting sustainable practices. Moreover, we can eco-host websites thus having a positive impact through the services we provide!
